The People Behind the Curtain

I've shared the successes.

I've shared the failures.

I've shared sandwiches that worked, sandwiches that didn't, and more than a few experiments that probably should have stayed in the kitchen.

As many of you know, I come from a technology background. I spent my career building software companies, leading technical teams, and solving complex technology problems.

Because of that, some of you have probably assumed that I built this website myself.

I didn't.

Not even close.

Behind this site is a small team of incredibly talented people who deserve far more credit than they'll ever ask for.

They're the ones who built the site you're reading today.

They're the ones who make sure every blog post gets published.

They're the ones who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

They're the ones who make sure my content finds its way onto social media instead of just sitting on my laptop.

The Role I Need to Play

Would I enjoy writing some of the code?

Absolutely.

There's still a part of me that loves solving technical problems.

But that's not the role I need to play right now.

My job is to build a restaurant.

Not the building itself—although I'll probably have opinions about that too—but the concept, the recipes, the systems, the culture, and the vision for what G&C Sandwich Company will someday become.

My job is to invite all of you along for that journey and let you see every decision, every experiment, every success, and every failure that happens along the way.

Someone else has to make sure the stories actually reach you.

That Brings Me Back to This Team

It took nearly six months to get this website to a point where we were comfortable sharing it with the world.

And launching it wasn't the finish line.

Every month they spend countless hours maintaining the site, formatting posts, managing updates, solving technical issues, and making sure everything works the way it's supposed to.

Then there are my opinions.

Anyone who has worked with me knows I tend to have a few.

Especially when it comes to things like typography, layouts, photography, and the eternal debate between white space and content.

I suspect I've made their jobs considerably harder than they needed to be.

Through it all, they've remained patient, professional, and committed to building something we're all proud of.

The Funny Part

The funny part is they'll probably be a little uncomfortable reading this.

They've never asked for recognition.

They've never asked for applause.

They've certainly never asked to be the center of attention.

They're simply the kind of people who enjoy doing great work and letting someone else stand in the spotlight.

I don't think that's fair.

This website exists because of them.

It continues to grow because of them.

And every time you read one of these posts, there's a lot more happening behind the scenes than simply me typing words onto a page.

So today, I just wanted to say thank you.

Thank you for believing in this project long before there was a restaurant.

Thank you for putting up with my endless revisions and unsolicited opinions.

Thank you for making this vision look far better than I ever could have done on my own.

People often tell me they're excited to watch G&C Sandwich Company come to life over the next few years.

So am I.

Just remember…

I'm not building it alone.

And I wouldn't want to.
